Kasey and Matt Hilliard run a family-owned nursery in Deniliquin called Leaves & Vines, where they aim to share their passion for gardening with the community.
“Our store isn’t focused on mass profits but on serving the community,” Kasey said. “We welcome anyone with gardening questions to come in.”
Leaves & Vines offers organic products and gardening accessories, along with landscaping and gardening services, including bobcat and tipper hire.
Kasey emphasized the importance of planning and knowledge in sustainable gardening. “Ask questions and plan; it’s about thinking twice and cutting once. Gardening is an ongoing process,” she said. She encouraged using food waste in gardens and avoiding chemicals.
One of their notable products is Charlie Carp, made from pest fish removed from the river, and organic blood and bone for garden enhancement. Planting at the right time and using endemic plants are also key aspects of their advice.
